Learn About Our Speakers
Dr. Kashmala Qasim
Dr. Kashmala Qasim is a postdoctoral fellow in Islamophobia in Health Professions Education, Temerty Faculty of Medicine’s Office of Inclusion and Diversity, and the Wilson Centre for Research in Education. Kashmala completed her PhD in History, Theory, and Critical Psychology from York University, where she examined how Qur’anic learning influences Muslim women’s perceptions of empowerment, well-being, and identity, using a Standpoint Feminist framework. Kashmala has also completed her Islamic studies at Al Huda Institute.
Br Irfan Jamal
Irfan Jamal has experience teaching high school Math and Science. He has also taught youth for several years at Sunday School and Friday Halaqa in his local community. Presently Irfan Jamal works as a Software Engineer and continues to tutor and teach children math, and Qur’an in his spare time.
