We’re all getting ready for winter, but the reality is that there are families in the community who are struggling to afford winter wear. Through Serving Humanity’s ‘Winter Care Drive’, our aim is to help provide warm winter clothing to people in need in our community. Tree Planting 2025

We’re back with our annual tree planting event!!
Join us for an exciting morning of helping conserve nature by planting trees! Here’s a great opportunity to participate in this beautiful activity with your families and give back to the community – together.

Dhul Hijjah Food Drive 2025

Our Dhul Hijjah Food Drive is aimed at earning the pleasure of Allah in the first ten most blessed days of the year by collecting and distributing food packages to people in need. 

DHUL HIJJAH – DAYS OF GIVING- 2025

The Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم has said about these days: 

 

“There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days…”

[Sahih al-Bukhari]

Donate $55 to sponsor a food package and help a family in need. 

You can also drop off non-perishable food items at: Al Huda Institute Canada, 5671 McAdam Road, Mississauga, ON, L4Z 1N9. Food items can be dropped off at Salah times in the food bin located at the front entrance of the institute. 

List of most needed items: 

  • Rice
  • Oil
  • Flour 
  • Pasta
  • Cereal
  • Chickpeas
  • Red Lentils
  • Jam
  • Tea
  • Salt
  • Sugar

Our goal this year is to distribute 200 food packages

Disclaimer: We do our best to allocate and disperse donations within the duration of the drive. Donations that come in too late are either held for the next food drive or allocated to providing families with other basic necessities as deemed necessary, In Sha Allah.

The month of Ramadan is a time of fasting, engaging in Ibadah and giving. As we spiritually prepare ourselves for this holy month, let’s not forget our brothers and sisters who are in need of basic necessities.

Help us purchase a food pack and/or a toy and support a family in need. You can also donate non-perishable food items from the list provided below:

  • Flour
  • Cooking oil
  • Dried Chickpeas
  • Pasta, Pasta Sauce
  • Jam
  • Dates
  • Sugar, Salt
  • Tea
  • Cereal

Our goal this year is to distribute

 10,000 Lbs of food

1 Food pack = approximately $55

 300 TOYS

1 toy = approximately $25*Please note: We do not accept used toys.

  • Cash donations can be dropped off in the golden donation box located at the back of the masjid.
  • In-kind donations can be dropped off on the black table located at the back of the cafeteria.

DROP OFF HOURS:

Mon-Fri: 9:30 am – 3:00 pm (or Salah times)
Sat-Sun: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm (or Salah times)

**We will only be collecting in-kind donations until March 15, 2025.**

Can I donate cash?

Yes, you can donate cash. There are golden cash boxes are located within Al Huda Institute. Institute is open during regular hours or Salah times (check our Salah timings here).

Please note: At this time we’re not accepting cheque donations. Sorry for any inconvenience.

What's the last date to collect non-perishable food items?

We’ll be collecting food donations from Tuesday, February 27, until Saturday, March 23, however you can donate online or drop off cash in donation boxes in the Masjid until the end of Ramadan, In Sha Allah.

Who do you give food packs and toys to?

We work directly with families and organizations who have expressed a need. This year, we’re collaborating with the following organizations:

  • ACCT (Arab Community Centre of Toronto)
  • Sakeenah Homes
  • Families registered on our Monthly Food Program

Please note that we maintain confidentiality of our beneficiaries’ identity at all time.

Do all the proceeds go towards the drive?

We do our best to allocate and disperse donations within the month of Ramadan. Donations that come in too late are either held for the next month or dispersed in another similar project as per need.

Imagine going out in the cold without a coat. Imagine having to choose between buying groceries or winter clothing. This is the reality a lot of people in the community are facing today. Due to the drastic increase in prices of all commodities, people are being forced to make tough choices between basic necessities. 

Through our Winter Care Drive, our goal is to provide ease to families in need in the community by providing winter coats. Help us make someone’s winter warmer. Donate today.

Join us for our ‘Winter Care Drive packing event’ on Sunday, Dec 15, from 3:00pm – 6:00pm, at Al Huda Institute. We will be sorting through winter coats and accessories, and making winter care packages. Help us spread the warmth!
